Ph.D. (Dr. sc. nat.) at University of Zurich, Institute of Systematic Botany with Prof. Elena Conti. Rated with grade 6. 2002-2006.

Diploma (Dipl. natw. ETH) at the ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in General Biology, with final exams in Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, Microbiology and Plant Physiology. Diploma thesis "Charakterisierung einer Calcium-abhängigen Proteinkinase LeCPK1 aus Lycopersicon esculentum" at the Institute of Plant Sciences with Prof. Nikolaus Amrhein. Rated with grade 6. 2001.

Job experiences
Since September 2007 working as the Secretary of the Swiss Electricity Commission ElCom in Berne, helping to build up a new, powerful federal organisation, which officially starts in 2008.

One-year fellowship in Science Politics at the Swiss Parliament in Berne. This scholarship was supported by the Council of the Swiss Scientific Academies (CASS). Through the scholarship, young academics can get a close-up experience of the political processes in the Swiss parliament. The members of Parliament, on the other hand, are offered the services of neutral experts. 2006-2007.

Research assistant at the Institute of Systematic Botany. 2002-2006. This position included:

- Own and collaborative research: molecular analyses in the labs, bioinformatics, field work and literature work
- Supervision and training of diploma students and lab technicians
- Oral and poster presentations at international research conferences (mainly USA)
- Preparation and presentation of lectures and kolloquia for advanced students
- Organisation of exhibitions and guided tours for the Botanic Garden of the University

Research associate at the Institute of Plant Sciences with Prof. Nikolaus Amrhein at the ETH Zurich. Research on the role of the ß-oxidation in the jasmonic acid biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana. 2001-2002.

System manager and programmer of a DEC VAX/VMS cluster at the Swiss Post company (Kreispostdirektion Zürich).
Special award for extraordinary performances. 1990-1995.


Experiences in journalism and public relations
Publication of scientific papers in different field-related journals (in English). 2002-2005.

Assistence in a commented translation of a longer "American Scientist" article into German in the context of a student's diploma thesis at the Zürcher Hochschule Winterthur. 2004.

Public relation work for the Botanic Garden Zurich: Various publications and exhibitions. 2002-2005.

Creation and organization of the web-based information service "infoplant". The website was meant to facilitate the direct contact between the public and scientists. Our work was supported by the foundation "Science et cité". 2001-2004.

Public slide shows on travels to Russia, Nepal, and Brunei. 2000-2005.

Chief of the editorial office for classical music at the former radio station "Radio Unispital", the biggest hospital radio in Switzerland. 1993-1997.

First price of a writing competition connected to a workshop in journalistic writing, organized by the youth magazine "Musenalp Express". August 1992.

Other interests
